It’s been too long since we connected!!

Let’s just say 2022 knocked me down, but I’m back and ready to step up and stand out! Are you with me?

Already February 2023 and 8 months since my last blog post, I am excited to rejoin the world! 2022 brought some real challenges and changes in my personal life. To be transparent, I took the foot off the gas in business and focused on me and what I needed. A full home renovation that meant we were displaced for many months, a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, and spending every breathing moment with those that matter and self healing had me completely distracted.

With time to reflect and recharge, I’m ready to help you with all your branding photography needs.

I recently heard these words, “true confidence is living in uncertainty and moving forward.”

I have made the decision for myself to not live in fear. Fear of the unknown future is not going to hold me back. I’m moving forward with confidence, and I want you to do the same. Let me help you.

Do you feel stuck in business? Like you don’t know how to reach your audience let alone keep their attention?

Let me ask, “Do you share stories, or do you just sell, sell, sell?”

What are stories you ask? Let’s dive in! I’ve got you! By the time you’re done reading this, you will be flooded with ideas.

Brand Storytelling is how you humanize your brand and transforms how people connect with you, your brand, your product or your service.

Storytelling has been around for centuries. It’s how we connect. It’s how we remember. People are far more likely to remember a story than they will product, and the only thing that differentiates you from the next person who is doing what you do or selling what you sell is YOU. So start sharing your story.

There are three important stories to share in business:

  1. Your Story: What do you do? Stories sharing who you are, what you do, and what make you different are the first key stories you need to share. Some critical questions to ask yourself are: What is the painpoint I have created a solution for? What is my unique solution to solving that problem? What is the end result for my client?
  2. Transformation Story: the stories of how you got to where you are, what your life was like before, show conflict, how your product or service helped, and how life is now
  3. Classic Brand Story: What are the stories of messages you keep retelling in business?

Sharing who you are beyond just what you do and showcasing your personality you will connect with the audience you want to attract and work with. If you try and speak to everyone, you will speak to no one. So get clear on the three stories and start sharing in your marketing.

I highly recommend the book “Building A Story Brand” by Donald Miller. This will walk you through the steps to get clear on your brand and the stories to tell so you can grow in business.

Once you have your stories ready to tell, you need authentic photos to visually support your message. This is where I come in. I help create scroll-stopping imagery to partner with your stories. Together, this is what makes you #STEPUPANDSTANDOUT.

I am close to celebrating my first year in business (what a year it’s been), and it’s about time I share my WHY.

My initial career choice was made out of security. It provided me a great income, job availability, work-life balance – all the things one considers when making major life decisions. But I denied myself the most important of considerations – what lights my soul on fire?

You see, I have been creative all my life. From colouring rocks as a child, pressing flowers to make cards, calligraphy, origami, crocheting, and all sorts of crafting; I have done it all. But it was imprinted on me that these activities were how you occupied your free time. That these were hobbies. That anything creative was not a secure career path. As a result, my creativity was reserved for the fleeting moments of ‘free time’ in life.

However, there was a defining moment. Approaching mid-life and realizing I was not living my purpose, the internal turmoil erupted, and I cracked wide open. It was after a complete and utter internal meltdown that I realized I needed to create and that it was missing from my life.

I tuned into my soul’s desire and haven’t looked back.

My TRUE NORTH and the reason I am a brand photographer is to fill my soul with creative work and to have an impact. I am fortunate to live my passion and support other entrepreneurs in living theirs.

In the words of Steve Jobs,

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

You see, every day I get to help entrepreneurs achieve visibility, productivity, and profitability by creating scroll-stopping images and providing brand strategy that is message-driven so that you stand out with impact.

I take care of your brand, so you can take care of your business.

How awesome is that!

I empower you to stand out with authentic, on-brand imagery that tells your story so that you, in turn, can enhance your communities with your service, solutions, products, and purpose.

We all matter and have unique gifts to share. In supporting one another and sharing our gifts, a ripple effect is created. It is this ripple effect that spreads out and on to INFINITY. This is my why.

The biggest question I’m seeing right now is, “How can I remain productive in my business during slow and difficult times?”

Let’s look at this as an opportunity.

As many businesses are facing the challenge of retaining clients, securing customers and maintaining their business, a downturn is an opportunity to spend some time ‘on’ our business rather than ‘in’ our business.  I acknowledge this is a difficult time for everyone, but I am choosing to stay positive and encourage you to do the same.

Despite the challenges we are facing, don’t completely give up right now.

Eventually this will pass, and we will be ready for business as usual if we focus on these 3 things:
  1. Offer your services – acknowledge the difficulties your audience is experiencing and operate from a place of abundance.  Ask how you can serve.  Offer your support.  When you support others during difficult times, they will remember and support you when they can in return.
  2. Consider and work on business systems – perhaps there are things you have put off and keep meaning to get to.   Take this time to focus on some areas that have weaknesses or have been left unattended.  Maybe it’s writing a blog post, updating a website, taking an online course, following up with past clients, sending a note, writing testimonials.  We all know there are endless tasks within our businesses.  Let’s tackle the list.
  3. Stay Visible – even though we are physically distancing, we can stay socially connected.  Use your social media channels to engage your audience.  Keep showing up and talking.  You will stay top of mind this way.  Share you and your business through stories and posts.

I hope you take this time to plan ahead.  If your visual marketing and social media content is weak, I am hear to help. I want you to succeed and come through all this.  I am happy to connect with you to discuss brand strategy, brand messaging, or even begin planning a brand photo session, so we are ready to go once all this passes.

The biggest question I get asked is, “What is personal brand photography?”.

Simply put, personal brand photography is lifestyle images for your business, placing you as the face of your brand.

Brand photography generates authentic images that show emotion and the story of you – creating connection with your audience, strengthening your brand, and growing your business.

What you need to understand is that marketing has shifted. People no longer want to be sold to! We have moved into a connections economy. With the advent of social media, AUDIENCE is the new currency. You need strong, authentic visuals to stop their scroll in order for your audience to listen to your message and engage.

As an entrepreneur, YOU are your brand.

The only thing that differentiates you from the next person doing or selling the same thing is YOU.

Are your visuals sharing you? The amazing multi-dimensional person you are? Are you showing up and being seen?

That’s what I’m here to do! I’m here to help you overcome visibility fears, step into the truest version of yourself, and create outstanding visuals so you can be seen and share the amazing work that you do.

How do we work together to make sure you stand out? With intentionally styled images, carefully crafted to share your story.
